The Prosthetics-Orthotics Science Association was established on December 23, 1998, and the 1st Ordinary General Assembly of the association was held on June 6, 1999; management, audit, permanent and substitute members were elected. Accordingly, Hidayet Erdem, Gül Şener, Serap Alsancak, Haydar Altınkaynak and Sabri Ateşalp are full members of the board of directors; Orhan Şahin, Adil Surat, Derya Dinçer, Nigar Yıldız, and Zafer Hasçelik as alternate members of the board of directors; Fatma Uygur, Mustafa Gültekin and Ayşe Küçükdeveci are full members of the supervisory board; Müfit Akyüz, Mehmet Beyazova, and Şehim Kutlay were elected as alternate members of the supervisory board.
The establishment and aims of the association have been reported to prosthesis-orthotics societies in Istanbul and Ankara and official institutions such as the Pension Fund, Ministry of Health, Turkish Standardization Institute, Social Security Agency, Ministry of National Education, and Ministry of Transport.
